Weave hair can be found in an incredible variety of hair, with virgin hair being the highest quality hair. So the question arises: just which hair texture should you go for when choosing a human hair weave?
Well, fortunately you have a great many hair textures to choose from. The most popular weaves are Brazilian, Indian, Peruvian, Malaysian and Eurasian. Each of these hair types has certain general traits associated with them. Before we talk about the differences between them, let’s take a look at the similarities between different types.
Virgin Hair Similarities
Every virgin hair type should have natural movement and resistance to tangling and shedding. All textures can be processed in curly, straight and wavy. Virgin hair will also have variations in color throughout the bulk, with some strands being lighter or darker than the rest. This is especially true for hair from sunny countries, since they tend to lighten after being exposed to the sun.
Now that we have these similarities out of the way, let’s look at what makes each type of hair unique.
Brazilian Hair
Brazilian hair tops the rest in popularity thanks to its quality. Soft, durable and thick, its texture easily blends with your own natural hair. Brazilian hair is widely found in the market thanks to its immense popularity all over the world. It is thought to be more resistant to humidity than Indian hair. While durable, it also has high density, which poses some challenges in terms of styling and movement. That said, Brazilian hair is not only easily styled, but also retains styles for a longer period of time.
Malaysian Hair
True Malaysian hair is somewhat rarer than other varieties – in fact, the label of Malaysian will often be used to describe any hair with medium to high luster and a silky texture. Real Malaysian hair tends to be soft, shiny and luscious, with a bouncy and light-as-air quality.
Peruvian Hair
Another popular hair bundle, Peruvian hair is both durable and versatile, meaning you can style it repeatedly with excellent results with minimal hair damage. Softer and silkier than Brazilian hair, it is also relatively rare, which makes it more expensive than other types of hair.
Peruvian hair blends well with African hair texture, and so weaves made of this have a more natural look to them. This hair is usually steam curled to develop a tight wavy pattern, and often comes in light to deep brown colors.
Indian Hair
Popular for its length, softness and texture, Indian hair is bouncy with effortless natural motion, as well as easy to style. This makes it great for use within both human hair weaves and wigs. It is also resistant to tangles, which means it lasts for a longer period of time without becoming matted.
However, it does tend to become frizzy when it is humid, which necessitates the use of quality anti-frizz products. It generally comes in dark colors, from deep brown to black.
